Challenger 2 by enc86 Challenger 2 by enc86
Here is my 1/35 trumpeter challenger 2. I was feeling pretty crappy for awhile there and really had not done much for projects, intill my wife picked me up this nice gift. I think that the challenger is one of the most intimidating looking modern tanks and have been wanting to do one one for awhile. Overall it was pretty fun and got me back into doing projects again.
As with all my kits, this badboy is very inaccurate. my wife picked out the paint, so it doesn't quite match any real life counterparts. I swiped decals from various other kits, just for some flavor. This was my fist time building a trumpeter kit and it was good to try out a "new" brand( I have been pretty loyal to Tamiya until now).
It was a pretty fun build but suffered flaws that would not be present in a better produced kit. It suffered from some minor fit issues(especially on the turret compartments) flash and big injection marks. the biggest problem with this kit was the very very flimsy tracks that were included. after a few test fits and the needed weathering/painting they were about falling apart. I had to reinforce them in several spots with staples( thankfully the armor skirts hide that fact)but all said this was a great kit and well worth the very cheap asking price($18.00 us)
Anyways while not my best, i am very happy with the outcome.doing an easy kit like this was just what the doctor ordered to get me back into things.

I like how this looks-as Nixod said, the painting is very well done. Not too bright, just really realistic.

Have you done a Centurion by chance? I know it's a British design.

thanks dude, i was unsure about the color (faded olive drab i think..) but after the wash it had a nice look to it.
and no not yet, but i will get to one. i really dig the look of British armor. i know the kit i wanted was backorded from my site, if it wasn't i would of been getting one for Christmas. also on my ever growing "to-do" list a British 155mm AS-90.

Oh alright.

If you get around to the Centurion-would it be possible to make it either the Israeli or South African version(s) of the Centurion. I know for South Africa it was/is the Olifant.

That's cool. Yeah the Israelis have had a tendency to upgrade the heck out of western tank designs. The M4 Sherman is another example.

I was wondering about an IDF version of it because I watched an episode of "Greatest Tank Battles" on Israeli armor vs Syrian armor in the Yom Kippur War (1973). In the "Valley of Tears," in the Golan Heights, about 100 Israeli Sho't Centurions held off about 1,260 Syrian tanks/armored vehicles.

Oh yeah Ok. Not a bad series, although it seems like they spend a lot of time showing the same/similar shots from different angles-instead of showing tactics and such.
