RX-78GP01 by enc86 RX-78GP01 by enc86

After the one year war, the earth federation set out to design mobile suits that were superior to those used by Zeon forces. The Rx-78GP01 was designed to be very adaptable and be used in both ground and space operations. To accommodate this GP01 required different core fighters to balance the mecha for the roles. Featuring high mobility and armor, plus extending shield the gp01 is was very dependable. Cutting edge weapon systems included a 60mm Vulcan Gun, dual beam sabers and the newly designed XBR-M-82-05H Beam Rifle with "Jitte" saber attachment. The impressive suit was heavy damaged and re-built into the RX-78GP01-Fb Gundam "Zephyranthes" Full Burnern.

Here is my finished Bandai 1/144 RG RX-78GP01 model. Out of the three RG models i have built, this one was the best. Great detail, gimmicks and awesome engineering, this model was really fantastic and well worth the $25us i paidfor it. overall this is one of my all-time favorite mobile suits deigns, as it truly looks classic and badass(even just standing still) built outta the box with added weathering and top coat, little work was needed to make this bad boy look good.

As Always questions, comments and suggestions welcome.

I really like how you shot this picture - it gives a great feel of scale.  The base, the pilot, it really looks like RX-78GP01 is massive! Clap

Yep.

Seriously, it takes a while to figure out how to photograph these pieces, whether it's models (and mods) like you do, or my sculptures.  Creating a background is as important as getting the angle and lighting right...

absolutely agree! alot of the time, the model is the easy part and the photos can be tricky for me. always feel good when i can not only produce a good model but capture it too.

yeah, definitely!  I've found that, with some of my sculptures, I'm going for accuracy -- good even illumination against a neutral background so you can see all the details, but in others, I'm trying to capture the heart -- strong, oblique lighting with deeper shadows against a darker background in order to capture the emotion and movement in the piece.

Every piece is a little different, and requires a good bit of thought about how to truly represent it well!

That is an amazing cool model, And i love what you did with it. Is there a game for those gundams, or is it just a cool thing to do?
Some actual blast damage, like burns on the shield  from rocket fire would be a pretty cool adition :)

thanks buddy, this model was super duper fun! nah there is no game, just pure modeling awesomeness.

yea i totally agree about the blast/other damage. i almost did some but this ones scale is wayyyy smaller than the gundams i normally work on and would feel more comfortable with(if that makes sense) anywho next time i will have to go for it.

Hello:
 It looks great!

Even though I like when things look pristine, as like they were new, I also like how you gave it those subtle effects because it makes it look more realistic.

 Keep it up!.

ahhh see i an the exact opposite, i like all my builds to be a bit dirty and weathered. not sure i could even build something pristine XD

ohhhh i will!

Hello:
Maybe it can depend on the model... or whatever we are up to ;) .

I can understand why you want your models to look like they have seen some good action :D .

I have not seen stores selling Gundam model kits in my city :( . But I might make Gundams as 3d models someday (since I already have some ships) :D .

 Awesome! :happybounce: .

yea it really can, i guess i just tend to work on projects that are destine to get dirty XD

thank you!

yea they can be hard to get ahold of locally. i live in a very rural area and have not seen them in any store or hobby shop even 100+miles away and have to use the internet to buy them.

Hello:
Yeah, specially Gundams and other Mobile Suits... they always get dirty :happybounce: .

You are most welcome :) .

Internet has surely been a very valuable asset, since I also buy things on the internet :) . Maybe one day I could ask you, which Mobile Suite you like better: Sazabi or Nightingale :D .

yea they seem pretty suited for some dirt and weathering.

yea i live just past the middle of nowhere so i have to use the internet for loads of things.

ohhh thats a good question, tho i think i prefer the Sazabi.  Nightingale is extremely awesome but something about it is just tooo different for me.

Hello:
I might consider that for when I make 3d Mobile Suits... although I might leave that for hero units if requested Sweating a little... .

I am glad you have the internet access :) .

That question is funny to me because Sazabi looks great, but I found it to be too much like a "Zaku on steroids"... like too much again of the same design. While Nightingale is also great, but the design doesn't sound like Char Aznable to me, like it is like too bulky-looking.

ahhhh very cool!

hahahah me too! we use to live in a different town and i had really good internet. now that we moved out here our internet is pretty poor, but at least we have it XD

hahahah "Zaku on steroids"! pretty much is, i like the look and almost evolution of the design. Nightingale is allso great but to me its soooo vastly different and as you said, not very much like char.
