kitbashed tank befor the paint by enc86 kitbashed tank befor the paint by enc86
Here is the work I have done so far on my current project. It is a 1/35 post apocalyptic themed kitbashed tank.  I thought it would be cool to show off the build before the priming and show off some of the odd bits that went into the build (a keen eye will be able to spot lots of stuff) right now it may not look like a ton of work but I have all ready dumped a good share on my time into it. It has got my usual assortment of random bits and bobs in the effort of making it look cool and less like the tank it's based on. at least a whole day was spent figuring out all the wiring (they will have some PE, once I get a few things painted) this beast still needs a bit of putty and sanding before its ready to prime and paint (I hope to prime over this weekend and get to painting next week) I still have the top mounted machine gun, figurines, stowage and other random small stuff that still needs a bit of work. Anyways hopefully it will look a bit cooler and look less random junk odd once I get it painted up.

As usual I am having a hard time coming up with a name and am still undecided on color scheme. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

well it still looks kinda like a Type 90, albeit a hyper modified one. I feel like this is something the JDF would actually prototype, like a last ditch Godzilla killer or something, so why not give it a Japanese name?
model designation: Type-90 152/LaR    common designation: Jinsoku inazuma
152-main gun caliber  LaR- linear accelerated rifle  Jinsoku inazuma (swift lightning)  <---- obviously because it fires armor piercing canisters filled with super heated plasma through a set of magnetic rails at hypersonic velocities....

also your work on that gun barrel is just awesome! those gundam bits are well placed there.  . be cool if you retained the JDF decals, but its just a thought. :)
good luck with the painting! I know how hard it can be trying to figure out what to do when you have nothing in mind.

yea when building this thing up i wanted to keep it in the real of reality to a certain degree. i like the idea for names, ill have to give it some thought . allso bonus points for the tec behind it.

lol yea that berrel was about 20% planing and 80% good luck. it was the last thing i built for it and was the only part i was massively unsure about. ill have to see what i got for decals, the kit came with only the most basic but i have built a few JGSDF so i might have more spares somewhere.

thanks i am sure the painting will be fun. its hard to tell what color it would look good in when its at this stage. yesterday i got it all rpimed, so i am sure it will come to me over the next few days.

"Silicone Wanderer". All the wires running along the turret suggest that it should have some sort of tech-related name. And, in a post-apocalyptic setting, I'd expect people with access to a functioning vehicle to do a fair bit of 'wandering'.

And quite honestly, this thing looks great as it is, even without paint. It's got that 'Millennium Falcon' vibe - some strange home-made monstrosity held together mainly by it's own weight, along with a healthy dose of spit and duct tape.

thats a good one and i didn't think about it from that angle. going into it i wanted to do a tank that would be of a different faction than my Abrams, make it look like the group that has it was really into tec, so you have given me some good food for thought.

thanks dude, it does have that look to it, just about what i was going for. its always so hard to tell starting off, gluing bits on to bits. i always wonder if it looks alright or just a pile of junk someone glued together. fow the last few days i thought it looked like junk on junk but once i got the wires and barrel done, i started to like it more.

Well, the whole thing looks like the circuit panel from inside a computer. That's what's been giving me that "recycled technology" vibe here. The latest in electronic warfare, perhaps?

Which MK. of Leopard did you use for the chassis? I know it's pre-A5 because of the vertical face on the turret, but I can't tell much beyond that. I have to say, this is an exciting looking kitbash, and I'm looking forward to the paint job.

believe it or not, its not a Leopard at all. i built this thing up from a JGSDF type 90, which was kinda sad becuse the type90 is a really cool tank to begin with. both the leo and 90 share alot of the same desing elemnts, it would be easy to get them confused, especialy when a ton of bits are glued on. anyways it was my hope that after my work, it would be hard to tell what tank it started as originally, so its good to know a tank nerd like you got couldn't tell.
anyways i am pretty excited to get rolling with paint, for me thats the most fun and where it will really come to life. add in some figurines and stowage and hopefully this one will really stand out.

*facehooves* Duuuude, a Type 90?!  Well done, sir, I hadn't a clue. I'm really not that big of a tank nerd, I'm sure if I knew a bit more about each tank's layout (hatches, viewports, etc) I'd have caught on, but I really haven't the time to memorize all of that XD And you are quite correct, I noticed how much the two designs share elements (particularly the turret). The only reason I know a fair bit about the Leopard is because it happens to be one of my top favorite tanks, and I figured it behooved me to know a fair bit about my country's MBT of choice.
Not gonna lie, though, I really like the design of the Merkava (aesthetically and functionally). The IDF did a lot of things with that tank I really like. It's a close tie between the Leopard and Merkava were I given the choice as to which I would fight in.
Anyway, really looking forward to seeing this model painted, as I said before. You decide what you want to do for the paint scheme?

lol it was an easy mistake, this thing is pretty close looking. Love the leo2 and is by far the most requested tank that i do. i will be getting to one at some point but i want my skills to improve a bit, that way i can do the leo justice.  still i am in love with the type 90, very awesome MBT. looks like the JGSDF looked at all the best tanks in the world and used something from everyone.
but i gotta agree, i think my favorite tank is the Merkava as well, great design and armament. the IDF sure know how to make armor!

yea i haven't quite decided on color, my original idea was gray tones but then i became unsure. its hard for me to tell  when it looks like bits. anyways i got it primed yesterday and am back to thinking grays would be the best choice for it. ill post a pic of it primed at some point before i really get to painting.
