Description
Here is my finished German Sdkfz 251. This kit was built rather fast for me( 4 days) and with little or no extras. this is because i have been inspired by and his crazy weather photo shoots. i have been always afraid of of bringing my models out in adverse weather, but I figured this one would make a good crash test kit.
While it is only snowing a bit in these pics, it was starting to get mighty cold 20f(-6c) and was hard to keep my hands from shaking. this will not be the be the last tour of duty for this one, I will hopefully get some pics when my Vermont weather gets crazier. gonna have to see how this one holds up against ice storms, night sub-zero temps and wind.
The kit:
This is a 1/35 Tamiya Sdkfz 251, and while quite old(from the 70's) was a nice ,enjoyable build. this bad boy can be found around the internet for around $12us and IMO well worth it. As i said before, i built this kit "outta the box" with no added detail, tho it would be very easy to load this one up. the decals that came with this kit looked to be very old, so i just used some of my left over German markings. not super happy with the decals, something about the sun made them really stick out(look fine inside). Overall painted in "Model Masters" Schwarzgrau enamel , metal dry brushing in "Model Master" jet exhaust, and my usual acrylic brown wash.
